Kahala is a beachy, inviting, and sporty area with plenty of luxury to offer its residents. From the great luxury Waialae golf course to the high-end luxury restaurants like the Miro in nearby Kaimuki, there are plenty of ways to live the luxury lifestyle in Kahala.

Beach access is one of the best aspects of living in Kahala. The Diamond Head Hiking Trail and beach park is ideal for a variety of water activities, ranging from relaxing in the shade of the big cliff bordering the ocean to windsurfing or surfing in the sparkling ocean. Two of the best summer surfing waves on the South Shore can be found down the twisting route from Diamond Head Road, where many locals paddle out every day.

Kahala is also a popular destination for land-based athletes. The four-mile circle that winds down Diamond Head Road is known as the diamond head hiking trail and toward Kapiolani Park is popular with runners, especially as marathon season approaches. It's the ideal course in many ways: difficult but accessible, with plenty of hydration stops, the occasional bathroom, and breathtaking views.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The Kahala Mall, with over 50 small and large retailers, as well as multiple eateries, provides the most retail space and shopping opportunities from Kahala to Honolulu. The amazing thing about the Kahala Mall is that it has nice major stores like Macy's, as well as smaller local boutique businesses like Cinnamon Girl.

In Kahala, there are some fantastic restaurants that should not be missed. Hoku's is located within the opulent Kahala Hotel & Resort. The beautiful food reflects the melting pot that the islands are, with an eclectic blend of Hawaiian, Asian, and European flavors. Every table inside the multi-level dining room has a full panoramic view of the ocean, so the views are nothing short of spectacular. Resort attire is appropriate, and reservations are strongly advised.
